May I see the things in front of me as they are, not as I think them to be.
May I walk the steps ahead of me one at a time, not wondering if there’s a map. May I say the things that fix things, not break them further apart. May I do what I need to do, not be distracted by what I can’t. May I dream of what I hope for, not of what I fear. May I love you like I love you, not as any other, me. via I Wrote This For You
“I am awfully greedy; I want everything from life. I want to be a woman and to be a man, to have many friends and to have loneliness, to work much and write good books, to travel and enjoy myself, to be selfish and to be unselfish… You see, it is difficult to get all which I want. And then when I do not succeed I get mad with anger.”—Simone de Beauvoir (via piscesinpurple) (via quote-book, socialismandrum)
“[When Vonnegut tells his wife he’s going out to buy an envelope] Oh, she says, well, you’re not a poor man. You know, why don’t you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet? And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I’m going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope. I meet a lot of people. And, see some great looking babes. And a fire engine goes by. And I give them the thumbs up. And, and ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don’t know. The moral of the story is, is we’re here on Earth to fart around. And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And, what the computer people don’t realize, or they don’t care, is we’re dancing animals. You know, we love to move around. And, we’re not supposed to dance at all anymore.”—Kurt Vonnegut (via loveyourchaos)
L and I just went on a staycation to Korea(-town) visiting T.
Good times listening to Sara Bareilles, spicy food, the beach, gossip. With any of us, no matter how much time has passed, our friendship immediately falls back into place. We’ve definitely grown up and there may be lots of catching up to do, but it’s always “the usual”. And that’s how I like it to be.
Artist Jason de Caires Taylor creates life-size cement sculptures of people and submerges them into the waters of South America. As time passes the sculptures become part of the underwater landscape and slowly become artificial reefs ripe with marine life.
I will remember your small room the feel of you the light in the window your records your books our morning coffee our noons our nights our bodies spilled together sleeping the tiny flowing currents immediate and forever your leg my leg your arm my arm your smile and the warmth of you who made me laugh again.
In two studies published today online in the journal Cancer, Joshua Muscat and colleagues found that smokers who have their first cigarette 30 to 60 minutes after waking up have a small increase in their chances of getting cancer than people who wait longer.
